1968 Ford F100 from "Black Snake Moan"
Movie shot in 2006, released 2007.
Truck VIN states it was made in December 1967. Although the truck has
now (in 2016) and back when the movie was made,
several things that I believe are for the 1969 model year.
Possibly changed before the truck made it to the movie by a previous
owner, or
perhaps Ford started using some 1969 parts at the end of 1968, who
knows. Truck has brown velour power seats, modified floor shift, and a
302 CI engine, even though the VIN says it should have a 360.
Also the VIN plate. has no color code stamped in it.
Photos below are for those who may not believe I have the same
truck. When you look at it in person it's pretty obvious that it
IS the
same truck that Samuel L. Jackson drove in the movie, with Christina
Ricci. In all photo pairs below the photo on top is a screen
capture
from the movie, the bottom photo was taken by me in June 2016.
Obviously over 10 years the primer over the original paint has faded
and the truck has aquired additional scratches and wear but there are
more than enough surviving quirks and marks that show undeniably that
this is the same truck.
I am offering this
truck for sale for $1,000. No more - no less, so don't make an
offer under that, 'cause for less than that it can stay right where it
is. I've never driven it more than two blocks. It starts
and runs. The engine that's in it is NOT the original. It
came with a 360, and since the movie the original owner changed the
engine to a newer 302, and also changed out the steering column/power
steering. I imagine so the power steering would work with the
newer engine. This is basically a beater 1968 Ford pickup. I have
no clue how many miles it has, and it's a different engine anyway. Very
few things work -- I believe the headlights work. No working
radio, heater, etc. It's all there but not working. In fact the radio
is an AM/FM cassette deck installed upside down that was in it in the
movie. The truck has a somewhat makeshift floor shift for the
automatic transmission. This was a beater truck in the movie and
it's a beater truck now. The tires have tread and all hold air.
It has a clear, current Minnesota title, it has current license plates,
and it's insured. It has a new battery and anti-freeze good to
-35 below. I have no documentation as to it's use in the movie
except a Lazarus Productions business card (they were one of the
prop/property companies). The truck was purchased by me in the
summer of 2016 and transported here from West Virginia. The
engine needs to be tuned up and adjusted. It runs, and I've
driven it a couple blocks (after letting it warm up for quite a while).
It had been sitting for many years until I bought it. I tend to seek
out old Fords, and the fact that it was in the movie made it a novelty,
so I bought it with minimal information and it needs far more attention
than I can give it. This is a PROJECT for someone. It's not
something you're gonna buy and start driving the same day. You
*might* be able to drive it home (if it's not far LOL). If I get a
chance I'll try it out on a longer drive and see how it goes when I get
a chance. Again, I bought this as a project, and it still IS a project.
Obviously, you can't fix it up or it won't be the same truck from the
movie! Although I think mechanically getting it squared away
woujld be fine. Depends on why you want it. Right now, except for the
engine, it's the truck Samuel L. Jackson drove Christina Ricci around
in for the movie "Black Snake Moan" It's not "LIKE" the truck from the
movie, it "IS" the truck from the movie. If you watch the movie,
or seek out more still images from the movie on the internet, and
compare them to the truck in person it's obviously clear that this is
indeed, with no doubt, the truck from the movie. This webpage was
originally made for a Ford truck collectors group to verify that this
was the truck from the movie, I'm just using it now as quick way to
show the truck for sale.
Note exact same scratches and dent in front fender. Emblem has
faded more of course.
Same dent in the top of the grille
Same added on trailer lights, tail light lenses and reflectors. Remains
of the added sideboards (one of those original boards is in the truck)
Same brown velour seats and the duct tape is still there holding the
weatherstripping on!
Same damage and attempted sealer repair to the windshield gasket. Also
all the same maps, Bible, etc from the car in the movie are still on
the dash.
Not a real clear photo, but truck has a small loop style bracket on the
front side of the hood between the hood and nose piece to the front of
the emblem, also seen here
on the movie truck, as well as the same "Union and Proud" sticker on
the back of the rear view mirror.
I will add additional photos as I get more images from the movie.
